[Transport] PAT Fare Hikes, Service Cuts Possible

The possibility of a PAT fare increase and service cuts were announced at PAT Board committee meetings this morning. Early projections see a $25.3 million operating deficit in the next fiscal year, which begins July 1. Another $25 million could also be unavailable to the Port Authority, if the Federal Government rejects a second Turnpike Commission/PennDOT proposal to charge tolls on Interstate 80.

Ironically, this was one of the few PAT Board committee meetings I had to miss. I was in court today trying to force Carnegie Library to open their board meetings to the general public. You can read a news article about this effort at:
