Details of the labor agreement, between the Port Authority of Allegheny County and Amalgamated Transit Union Local 85, negotiated last week in Washington, are starting to leak-out.

The tentatively agreed-upon contract parallels the Fact-Finder's Report, which was initially rejected by the Union but reluctantly approved by the PAT Board. However, leniancy was given to transit operators who may have many years of service, but still would have lost health care after retirement.

Instead of a 3-year contract originally proposed, the new deal would be for four years, retroactive to this-past July 1.

You can read on-line summaries of the transit deal from Pittsburgh's two morning newspapers at these links --

You can read the details of the proposed contract at this link:

The Union plans to vote on this proposed contract this-coming Sunday. If approved by the Union, the PAT Board will probably schedule a special meeting to approve the contract next week.
